What I Learned at Conference

Romance writers are an incredibly supportive group.

Agents and editors want you to succeed.

It sucks to go when you're feeling crappy, but the positive energy makes you better!

You can write at any age.

It is better to write a beautiful, well-crafted novel than a quick one.

I need a better thesaurus.

Writing is a gift that must be shared.

I was considered an "extrovert." That's a nice word for pushy, right?

Lani Diane Rich is a kind and welcoming soul.

Anne Stuart is a hoot.

Annette Blair made me cry when she read thank you letters from her readers.

I am a great writer. But Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol is still better.

Wait. I wasn't supposed to add that last part.

I am a great writer!

The Betties Rock.
In front: Megan, Deborah, Lani/Lucy, and Katy.
Delia is behind me, and Kate George, fearless conference coordinator, is behind Lani.

  2. @Sue G: The picture was taken right after breakfast, so I think Krissie (Anne) was smart, and stayed in bed!

  6. @Julie: I think we made our our poor photographer snap this picture on three cameras. So, somewhere there is a version with more Delia! I think Deborah took lots of pictures and will send them to Alastair to post.

  9. LOL Is that what they call it? Mysterious allure? Mainly, I was just taller than everyone, so I was in the back. I was also trying not to knock over the table of juices behind me. ;)

Megan, I believe that was Katy Betty. I could be wrong.

  10. This is a great pic, Megan! Would you mind if I repost it as part of the Sunday Best on Lucy's blog?

Glad you had such a great time -- hopefully, I'll be at the next gathering, and we can meet! :)

  11. @Delia: Yes, I thought it was Katy! Okay, going to change it now. Also, don't underestimate your allure...

@Alastair: Feel free! I can email it to you directly, if you like. The conference was mentally invigorating, and emotionally uplifting-a good combo, any day. I hope you can join us in the future!

Megan, you're not a cartoon! How strange... ;-)

  15. @Mabel: I gave someone my card, which has my cartoon profile picture, and they said, "Oh, it looks just like you!" I still haven't decided if that's a good thing...

Thanks for reading! Unlike other Diaries, this one isn't private. Feel free to share your thoughts. Politely, of course.
