Working Woman: Julie Hanavan Olsen!

This is Julie on her environmentally-friendly mode of transportation. I am deeply enamored of those saddle bags, and Julie, who is a dear friend even though we've never actually been in the same place at the same time. Our friendship is a testament to her ability to make a deep, honest connection no matter the physical distance. This is due, in no small part, to the openness of her heart and her desire to give people the tools they need to navigate their journey through life.

Julie is a professional Tarot card reader. She comes from a long line of psychically gifted family members and has studied with several well-known readers and psychics. Julie has been practicing her craft for nearly 30 years and continues to offer a daily reading on her blog "Welcome to JulieLand," which also details her adventures as a mom, subversive cross-stitcher, and health-enthusiast.

Julie's daily draw inspires me every day and I continue to be amazed how often it addresses what I'm dealing with in my life. However, Julie's true talent is her personalized card readings. The best part is she offers her services online! Oh sure, we'd all love to visit her in Eugene but she can help any of us from afar. If you send her an email asking for insight, Julie prints your letter, schedules a time for the reading and then places the letter where you would normally sit. She reads the cards, takes a picture of the spread and types out the messages she receives. This usually takes about an hour and then she emails you the picture of your cards and the information you need. Afterward, she has a snack because it's pretty tiring business being the "radio."

Both my sister and my mother were fortunate to enjoy the gift of one of Julie's readings. They were amazed at the level of detail they received, and each contacted Julie for further insight. In the end, they also came to consider her a friend.

If you would like to contact Julie to schedule a personal reading, or if you would like to know more about Tarot cards or what the heck subversive cross-stitch is anyway, you can post your questions here or at urthalun.com.

Thank you so much for joining me for the debut of  Working Woman Wednesday! If you know someone who would like to be featured please let me know. Let's support each other, one lone woman at a time.

  1. Yay! It's Julie! I love Julie!

Excellent feature, makes me want a reading very much I think I'll make it a treat to myself when I finish my freelancing project. I love her daily cards and they do often speak to my experience buy sometimes I have to snark on the artwork...I TRY to resist because she's so sweet.

I am the proud steward of a sweet pea cross stitch by the talented Julie. It hangs over the SP's crib!

Also, since our Julie is a nocturnal creature, I would have titled her post "lady of the evening" despite the implication because I'm snarky like that.

    1. I laugh when she's clued in to the atrocious artwork and tells us to avert our eyes.

M.I.L is the proud owner of a handmade quilted bag--that Julie is multi-talented!

  2. Julie's card reading are awesome! And so is she. Really.
Since I'm east coast and she's west coast and she's a total night owl, we will occasionally text in the early hours of the morning for me (usually involving a kid and a kid's activity) and the end of the night for her. So she ends by telling me to have a good day and I end by telling her to have a good night - always makes me giggle!

    1. That's so true! Just last night I sent her a picture of the little boys sleeping in my bed right before I climbed in at midnight. She'd just booted up her computer!

  4. Julie is awesome! I have been fortunate enough to meet with her a few times when I was in Oregon handling my mom's estate (and once when it was just vacation!). She is authentic and eccentric and totally lovable. I have had a couple of readings by her that were fantastic and offered starting off points for some interesting conversations. She is an excellent friend and an excellent tarot card reader and psychic.

    1. I want to go to Oregon!

My mother was particularly touched by her reading. She referenced it for many months after she received it. My sister had two readings because so much happened in her life in one year. She felt like she needed more information to help guide her decision-making and she really trusts Julie.

  5. It's lovely to learn a bit more about the fabulous Julie!!! Thanks for doing this.

I love Julie's website with it's daily musings, meanderings, and then of course the meaningful card draw. I pop over there almost every day. So far, I haven't had a personal reading. Maybe after tax season because I just recieved a pretty good accounting report. : )

    1. A good accounting report deserves a celebration! And you deserve some personal attention--you've been working hard!

  6. Julie totally rocks! Her readings are wonderful, too. Very detailed and helpful. I haven't had one for awhile, so I'll be treating myself soon. Big kiss, Julie! You, too, Megan!

    1. I hope you will treat yourself soon--we mothers don't always think of ourselves first. And if we fall apart, what would everyone do without us? Kisses back 'atcha!

  7. Hey Julie, does the type of snack you have/crave vary with the type or intensity of the reading you've just done or is it totally based on what you have on hand?

    1. Ooooo Michelle, what a great question. It almost always involves cheese, though, now that I think about it. So my nearly-veganism is a challenge, and has mostly fallen off.

(Now I'll have to pay attention to what my body is craving when I finish a reading, lol!)

Everyone else, ohmyfreakingawd, thank you so much!!! I'm in tears here, this is all so amazing and sweet.

    1. What I've learned from reading Julie's daily draws is that the Universe almost always knows what I need before I do. So I think you're right to trust it, and Julie, for a reading. :-)

  10. Julie, how fun to learn about your work! Love your photo on the bike--I'm a biker too and love pedaling in the neighborhood across the highway from me and hauling my bike to the park in the summers. I go to your website frequently--the Tarot cards fascinate me although I've never had a reading. I'm going to have to think about giving that a try! Good to learn to know you better! Thanks for that chance, Megan!

    1. I wish I was a biker. Let me amend that: I wish I lived in a flat neighborhood so I could ride my adorable retro Schwinn with ease. I've never had a reading either, Nan, so maybe we should both consider it!

    1. Right? It's strange and wonderful how the internet can introduce you to life-long friends. That said, go read "More About Me" Miss Mabel! You have questions to answer...
